Christmas tree, real or fake?

Not long ago I was sitting, minding my own buisness, drinking a cup of coffee, and couldn't help overhearing someone loudly pontificating on the environment. The person was arguing that a fake tree was better for the environment than a real one. No trees were killed that way. I couldn't help thinking they were full of, well you know. The majority of trees for Christmas are grown on farms; no clearcutting involved. Fake trees are for the most part, made of plastic and aluminum. The plastic is refined from crud oil and the aluminum was probably stripmined in some third world country where environmental concerns are a low priority. Clearly the real tree is better.

  1. Mmm... we are having a fake tree this year, but not because of the environmental concerns. Real trees smell wonderful.
I used to be so sad that these trees got cut down, until I realized that they were grown on farms and, after all, whether we buy one or not, it is already cut...
    Merry Christmas!
